Travel Safety: why it's now safe to visit again
Although Sierra Leone is now safe destination, it is a very poor country. Fortunately, the current political trend seems to be a positive one, and the current atmosphere suggests that the country will remain peaceful and development will continue.
Tribewanted meets it’s members at Lungi International airport and transfers them directly to John Obey Beach.
Tribewanted functions on an honour system and although we will be on a protected, isolated peninsula at John Obey beach, we take the security of our “tribemembers” seriously. We will have a full time security team on site, with two experts from Freetown who will train a local team.
Fortunately Sierra Leone does not suffer from hurricanes, earthquakes or volcanic activity. However, our international and domestic insurance will cover us from any loss due to fire, theft or natural disasters. The rainy season in July and August is strong, Tribewanted will not be operating in those months and all our equipment, including solar panels, computers etc. will be safely stored and locked.
